Paneer Butter Masala Recipe

Paneer Butter Masala is a creamy, mildly spiced North Indian dish made with tomatoes, butter and soft cubes of paneer. Using our Paneer Butter Masala Spice Mix, this recipe creates a smooth, rich sauce with gentle heat and aromatic depth.


Shopping List

  • Paneer or tofu – 2 cubes or 400 g
  • Onions – 300 g or 2 medium, sliced
  • Tomato – 200–300 g or 3 medium, sliced
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – ½ inch, diced
  • Garlic – 2–3 cloves, diced
  • Coriander leaves – chopped
  • Pepper – ¼ tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Milk or cream – optional

Cooking Method

  1. Cook the onions and tomatoes
    In a pan, melt butter and sauté onions on low heat until soft.
    Add tomatoes and sauté for a few minutes until softened.
  2. Add ginger, garlic and spices
    Add ginger and garlic.
    Add pepper, salt and the full pack of Paneer Butter Masala Spice Mix.
    Stir and cook until everything is mixed well.
  3. Blend the base
    Let the mixture cool slightly.
    Blend into a smooth paste for the signature creamy texture.
  4. Finish the sauce
    Add water to adjust consistency.
    Cook for a few minutes on low heat.
  5. Add paneer and finish
    Add paneer cubes and simmer gently.
    Add milk or cream if desired.
    Finish with coriander leaves.

Serve with naan, chapati or basmati rice.

  • For a vegan version, use tofu and coconut cream
  • Adjust water depending on preferred gravy thickness
